The government’s digital consumer grievance platform e Jagriti has emerged as one of the fastest growing public service systems in the country. Since its launch in January this year, the portal has already handled nearly one lakh thirty thousand complaints. More than two lakh users including many non resident Indians have registered on the platform, showing its wide acceptance among consumers in India and abroad.
What e Jagriti Offers
e Jagriti serves as a central portal where any consumer can raise complaints related to defective products or unfair services. The system allows users to file cases online, upload proofs, pay the required fee digitally and track the progress of their complaints in real time. It brings together all earlier consumer related systems into one easy to use platform and aims to deliver faster resolutions through digital hearings and paper free processes.
The portal is designed to be accessible for all age groups and includes features such as voice to text support, a multilingual interface and simplified one time password based registration. Officials say the system has helped reduce delays in documentation and has made the grievance process more transparent.
Strong Adoption Across States
By mid November 2025, e Jagriti recorded impressive numbers with around one lakh twenty seven thousand cases already resolved. Several states reported rapid disposal of complaints with some even clearing more cases than the number of new complaints filed in certain months. This reflects the efficiency of the new digital workflow and the push for quicker consumer justice.
Inspiring Success Stories
The platform has also delivered several remarkable outcomes:
Assam Case:
In Morigaon district, a parent won an amount of rupees three lakh five thousand within twenty five days after an online education company made unauthorised deductions for cancelled classes. The quick resolution has been highlighted as an example of how digital access can strengthen consumer rights.
Tripura Case:
In another notable case, a consumer in Tripura secured rupees one lakh sixty seven thousand after complaining about a defective refrigerator that was already eight years old. The ruling clarified that manufacturers remain responsible for quality issues even long after purchase, if the defect is proven.
A Big Step Toward Digital Consumer Justice
With rising digital purchases and growing awareness of consumer rights, e Jagriti has become an essential platform for anyone facing issues with goods or services. Whether the product is bought from a local shop, a large retail chain or an online marketplace, users can now seek redressal with far less effort.
The continuing rise in registrations and the high resolution rate show that consumers are finding the portal reliable and easy to use. For millions of buyers, e Jagriti is helping build trust and accountability in the market.
