In a landmark event for spiritual heritage and cultural pride, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to unveil a 77-foot bronze statue of Lord Ram on November 28 at Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Mutt located in Partagali village, Canacona, South Goa. The ceremony marks the 550th anniversary of the Mutt.
Sculpted by veteran artist Ram V. Sutar, the same sculptor who created the world-famous Statue of Unity, the towering bronze idol of Lord Ram is being hailed as the tallest statue of the deity in the world.
A special helipad has been constructed within the Mutt premises so the Prime Minister can arrive smoothly on the day of the unveiling. ďublin the 550-year celebrations, the Mutt grounds have been refurbished and prepared to welcome devotees and visitors.
The unveiling will take place at 3.45 pm on November 28, after which the Prime Minister is expected to visit the temple within the Mutt complex and address a public gathering. Among the dignitaries expected to attend are the Goa Governor, the Chief Minister, Union and state ministers.
As part of the 11-day festivities that run from November 27 to December 7, the Mutt has planned a range of cultural, spiritual and heritage programmes. The organisers anticipate a daily footfall of 7,000 to 10,000 visitors during this period, underlining the importance and public interest in the celebrations.
With this grand unveiling, the Mutt hopes the statue and associated celebrations will not only reinforce spiritual devotion but also elevate Partagali as a major cultural and pilgrimage destination in Goa.
