In a major boost to India’s artificial intelligence landscape, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and Meta Platforms have announced the launch of a new joint venture worth ₹855 crore, named Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited (REIL). The partnership aims to deliver enterprise-grade AI solutions across key sectors including finance, sales, marketing, IT, and customer service.
According to an exchange filing, Reliance Intelligence Ltd, a subsidiary of RIL, will hold a 70 per cent stake, while Facebook Overseas, Inc., a Meta subsidiary, will own 30 per cent. The collaboration combines Meta’s Llama-based AI models with Reliance’s vast enterprise network and digital infrastructure, positioning the venture as a homegrown AI powerhouse for Indian businesses.
Building India’s Enterprise AI Infrastructure
The new company will offer an AI platform-as-a-service, allowing organisations to customise and deploy generative models. It will also provide a range of pre-built AI solutions designed to automate operations and enhance productivity across multiple industries.
Meta will contribute technical expertise and model training capabilities, while Reliance will use its enterprise reach and telecom-backed data networks to scale AI adoption among small and large businesses. The venture is designed to be cloud-agnostic, offering deployment options across public cloud, private cloud, and hybrid environments.
Reliance’s AI arm will invest ₹2 crore in the initial subscription of 20 million equity shares. The transaction does not involve any related-party entities and requires no regulatory approval, the filing confirmed.
Strengthening India’s AI Capabilities
This partnership builds on Reliance and Meta’s earlier AI collaboration announced in August, which aimed to bring affordable, scalable AI solutions to Indian enterprises using open-source Llama models. Analysts say the venture could play a crucial role in accelerating AI adoption among Indian companies, particularly in customer engagement, automation, and digital transformation.
Industry experts view the alliance as a strategic move to localise enterprise AI ecosystems, reduce dependency on foreign AI platforms, and align with India’s broader goal of building self-reliant digital infrastructure. With Reliance’s scale and Meta’s AI expertise, REIL is expected to become a key enabler of industrial AI transformation in India over the coming years.
