Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis dismissed opposition claims of wrongdoing in the BJP’s purchase of land near Churchgate for its new Mumbai regional headquarters. He clarified that the property was acquired through private channels and party funds, not government allotment.
“We did not ask for government land. We bought private land, following all legal and procedural norms. Manoj Kotak found the location, and the party completed the purchase transparently. Those who have a history of grabbing land should not question us,” Fadnavis said.
His comments came after Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut accused the BJP of abusing power to acquire the plot, alleging rule manipulation and irregular approvals by the BMC. Raut’s letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, also shared on social media, claimed the transfer happened within 11 days via “Eknath Realtors.”
Fadnavis termed the allegations “baseless political noise,” adding that the BJP’s process was transparent and fully compliant with regulations, unlike opposition parties “used to bending the law for personal gain.”
