In yet another display of economic absurdity, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has unveiled his latest fantasy-filled promise — a Rs 30,000 monthly salary and government job status for every Jeevika Didi in Bihar if his party comes to power. Addressing a press conference in Patna, Tejashwi claimed he would make every community mobiliser under the Jeevika scheme a permanent government employee.
This is the same leader who once vowed to give a government job to every family in the state — a promise that defies the very basics of financial logic. Now, he seems to believe that Bihar’s exchequer is an infinite ATM for populist experiments.
The Grand Giveaway Politics
Tejashwi’s pitch includes a Rs 2,000 monthly allowance and insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh for each Jeevika Didi, topped with a bizarre new claim — “We will give Rs 30,000 within a few months of forming the government.” In other words, a full year’s salary handed out instantly, without a thought about where the money will come from.
The RJD leader’s pattern is clear: promise first, think later. His speeches have become an endless list of freebies, designed to lure voters but offering nothing on governance, job creation, or economic growth.
Fiscal Discipline? Never Heard of It
Economists and officials say such announcements, if implemented, would wreck Bihar’s fragile finances. The state already spends over 80 per cent of its revenue on salaries, pensions, and subsidies. Yet Tejashwi appears determined to outdo himself with every election by dangling yet another unworkable carrot before the public.
This is not governance — it’s reckless populism dressed as empathy. With every announcement, Tejashwi Yadav proves that fiscal prudence remains far above his IQ level. Bihar deserves leaders who understand economics, not entertainers who think running a state is about throwing imaginary money into microphones.
